St.Jude Thaddaeus
Feast Day October 28
Patron of desperate
situations, forgotten causes, impossible causes, and lost causes (among others)
Often a
Marian Mantle Group member feels it is impossible for a situation to change.
To expect a prodigal loved one to soften their heart and begin to make the
journey back to the Faith may seem like a lost cause. To help restore
peace to our hearts, we remind ourselves of the angel's message to Mary, "With
God all things are possible." We may also ask St Jude's prayerful
intercession for us. We strive to remember the frequent reports from
members of seemingly impossible situations that did change. Then we gain
the strength to persevere in prayer for as long as it takes.

Who Was St Jude?
Son of Cleophas, who died
a martyr, and Mary who stood at the foot of the Cross, and who annointed
Christ’s body after death. Brother of Saint James the Lesser. Nephew of Mary
and Joseph; blood relative of Jesus Christ
Tradition says his patronage of lost or impossible causes arose from the
confusion of many early Christians as they tried to distinguish Jude and the
traitor Judas Iscariot; thus, they never prayed for Jude’s help, and
devotion to him became something of a lost cause during that time.

Prayer in Time of
Trials
St. Jude, glorious
apostle, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the name of the traitor has
caused you to be forgotten by many. But the Church honors and invokes you
universally as the patron of difficult and desperate cases. Pray for me who
am so miserable. Make use, I implore you, of that particular privilege
accorded to you to bring visible and speedy help where help was almost
despaired of. Come to my assistance in this great need that I may receive
the consolation and help of heaven in all my necessities, tribulations and
sufferings, particularly -- (here make your request) -- and that I may
praise God with you and all the elect throughout all eternity. St. Jude,
pray for us and for all who honor and invoke your aid. Amen

Prayer to St. Jude
Thaddeus
for a Special Favor
O glorious Apostle St.
Jude Thaddeus, true lover of Jesus and Mary, I greet thee through the Sacred
Heart of Jesus. Through this Heart I praise and thank God for all the graces
He has bestowed upon thee. Humbly prostrate before thee, I implore thee,
through this Heart, to look down upon me with compassion. Despise not my
poor prayers; let not my trust be confounded; to thee God has granted the
privilege of aiding mankind in the most desperate cases. O come to my aid,
that I may praise the mercies of God! All my life I will be grateful to thee
and will be thy faithful client, until I can thank thee in Heaven. Amen.”
