It is the beautiful task of Advent to awaken in all of us memories of goodness and thus to open doors of hope.  ~Pope Benedict XVI
Take time to be aware that in the very midst of our busy preparations for the celebration of Christ’s birth in ancient Bethlehem, Christ is reborn in the Bethlehems of our homes and daily lives. Take time, slow down, be still, be awake to the Divine Mystery that looks so common and so ordinary yet is wondrously present.  ~Edward Hays
Life is a constant Advent season: we are continually waiting to become, to discover, to complete, to fulfill. Hope, struggle, fear, expectation and fulfillment are all part of our Advent experience.  ~Connections
Love, appreciate, dignify, respect: these are the useful verbs to apply to all people, all the time.  ~John Fischer

Thoughts for Advent meditation
Pray: without ceasing
Hope: without ceasing
Don't worry: it's useless.
Trust in Jesus.
He's the only one who knows
that everything's going to be all-right.
Let's do our best, and let Him do the rest!

                                                                                                 ~Esther, Ohio

Padre Pio said, "Pray, hope, and don't worry. Worry is useless. God is merciful and will hear your prayer."  This Advent when I start to worry I'm going to pray instead!  Won't you join me? ~Suanne, GA

This Advent, let's first get our own house in order so we can better help our prodigal's get theirs in order.  As MaryAnn has said so often, "If we want our prayers for others to be effective,  we should first make sure we are in good standing with the Lord."  Doing that sure made a difference in my life, and in my prodigal's life, too. ~Mary, NY

“Prepare the way of the Lord.  All God’s people need to prepare His way this Advent.”~Jane, KS

My Advent Thought this year is that Jesus has prepared me all these past months to be the Auntie I am being now - guiding my oldest nephew through the RCIA process and renewing my commitment to teach The Faith in the coming year.  I am so blessed, with each and every struggle and consolation, because I am reminded that God loves me...I matter...how wonderful is that?   ~Leslie, CA

“Prepare the way of the Lord”  Stop and do something countercultural just to be sure you’re thinking of preparation for the Lord and not just for a season. ~Jane Stucker, KS

I pray that every member of this group will get a miracle this Advent, that we will see our children return to the faith or find the strength to continue to pray for them to return.  ~Anonymous in NV
As we go through Advent let's pray for an increase in patience that we learn to wait for the Lord to come into our lives and also into the lives of the ones we are praying for to return to the faith.  Thanks for this Advent section.  It is great to pray and wait together.  ~Kate from TN
Advent thought: Keep the light on the path lit all through the years and pass it on as we leave this life. ~Bert, KS

During Advent let us pray for our enemies and our government officials. Christ taught us to do so as he hung, dying on the cross, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do”. ~Jackie, NE

My prayers are with all of you as I am in yours.  My youngest son drove me from my home in Oregon down to Napa, CA on Monday the 23rd. My grandson there was made an Eagle Scout that evening and I was able to attend. Thanksgiving was very special with what seemed like Grand Central Station, with all the doings. It was a very special FAMILY thanksgiving with a 39 lb. turkey dinner. Also very international. We are all God's children.  A granddaughter there received a diamond engagement ring. What a week!   Advent is so special.   We have so much to be Thankful for.              ~Mary Richardson, Oregon

As candles are lit in windows for the holidays, may God let us also be lights, for those who have left the church, as well as for those who are looking for "someone" or "something" to fill their loneliness. God bless you all.         ~Kansas Prayer Group Leader

We had a good Thanksgiving weekend--a Big Surprise! FR Blick (former pastor now serving in Iraq) was in town.  He said Mass on Saturday night. It was great to have him here to start our Advent Season, We are also preparing for The 9 Day Novena to Our Lady Of Guadalupe that starts this Friday. Let's all Remember our Blessed Mother.  Thanks for this group!             ~Raphaela,  Kansas Prayer Group Leader

A simple little Prayer: A former priest at our parish, at the end of Benediction would say the "Glory be to the Father." I thought we only said that with the rosary.  Then one day the words of that little prayer hit my heart:

Glory be to the Father--the One who made us
And to the Son--the One who saved us
And to the Holy Spirit--from whom all blessings flow
As it was in the beginning--As Jesus told us
Is now--As Jesus told us
And ever shall be--As Jesus told us
World without end--Everyone
Now I say this many times a day for our prodigals that they may be filled with the Holy Spirit's blessings    ~Sally, Kansas
